Super Albino Llama: Llamas are awesome! (169)
My Bio
I started out drawing stick figures when I was a little kid, just like everybody else. When I was 12 I took a group art class. Steve Pugsley was the instructor. I remember really liking the "follow the edge of the object" drawing exercise. In high school I was the year book photographer for three years. I might have taken an art class but I can't say for sure. In college I had one art class that involved graphite, ink, and acrylic paint mediums. My classmates and instructor said I should change my major but I stayed with health sciences. 27 years later I took Drawing & Composition I at the local community college -- just to see what it was like. I was hooked and took Drawing & Composition II followed by Life Drawing. I haven't had time to take anymore classes in the last four years. I have a pretty rough work schedule now, 40-60 hours a week and I work out of town a lot, but I try and fit in portraits when ever I can. Some are commissions, some are family or acquaintances. At first, I couldn't draw for more than two hours at a time before my brain became mush. Now I can work on a drawing for up to nine hours. Time just stops, it doesn't exist when I draw. I think this is a good sign.

:thumb794692953: I can't imagine any art more challenging than portraying a well-known religious icon. In my drawing "The Next Supper" I dodged the issue completely by not portraying the central figure at the table in a human form. While I was creating that drawing, many people asked me who I would model Jesus after. My church pastor even asked me if I had plans to portray myself in the role! Ever since then I was on the lookout for someone who would disappoint expectations. Yes, you read that right! I wanted someone different than portrayals of Jesus in the past - not Italian, German, Noblesque, or tall in stature. I knew early on that if

My 100 x 150cm black paper is now dry mounted and I received 19 white PrismaColor pencils last week. There is snow on the ground. Nothing will hold me back from drawing!

The annual Alumni+ Art Exhibit, sponsored by Kalamazoo Valley Community College, is coming up and this year I'll be entering "The Next Supper" and "The Next Big Step." My younger son is also entering for the first time with three pieces. His medium is completely different than mine - acrylic on Masonite. I'll post some pictures of the gallery from opening night - April 6. :thumb640366728: :thumb660653630:

I loved your work! Congratulations on the great talent
Thank you! Obrigado!
You are very proficient at black and white pieces. it can be quiet challenging to remove the color, yet keep the mood of a piece, but you seem to have gotten it quiet well!
Thank you, Anna. I'm sure you will enjoy the challenges of white pencil on black paper. There are many good examples of creative work in my Favourites Folder to show you the possibilities. I'm looking forward to seeing your next drawing.
Thanks for giving back a llama. :-D
Thanks for the fave and comment on my work :D
